Welcome to this Sunday’s Third Degree: Tough, Brief, Weekly Interrogations on public and private matters that force thinking and response. Today we target: Sightings
- Are you an inveterate twitcher? Do certain sightings and identification excite?
- If new to the field, are you eager to face complexity of plumage and calls that can confuse, attract or warn?
- Does essential sighting success require a big, broad brimmed hat to protect from defensive and offensive droppings meant for your head thereby avoiding disgusting dribble factor into eyes, ears and mouth?
- Venturing out then, is first encounter the viral “AH SO” bird? Widely attributed to China, except by unrepentant media and Dr. Fuchus and “gain of function” cronies, is this lab manufactured virus spreader perhaps precursor to another really deadly, manufactured avian flu yet to come?
- As we watch, does China help or hinder? Is there really need to focus binoculars?
- Ever on guard, is our next sighting an“AH HA” moment ushered in with a swish of color and feathers?
- OMG, is it the celebrated, always preening, Rosy Cheeked Rainbow Strutterer? Can you believe it?
- A mere fraction of the total population, why does the Strutterer command such constant attention with identification confused by strange nesting habits and nomenclature ?
- Venturing further, how can one miss the Crusted Malarkey Wobbler? When awake, does the Wobbler and extended nest feast on wormy contributions?
- Is the Wobbler aided, even protected, by other flocks like the 51 Intelcravens and the very unwise Three Monkey FBIers and DOJers (colloquially, Fibbers and Dodgers)?
- Since birds of a feather flock together, how does one judge the worth of such assemblies?
- Are there Hitchcock moments of dread in the sightings and the sounds?
- Is there any field guide to interpret the intent and screeching cacophony from the many flying flocks?
- Should we give a flying flock estimation and value sightings and ornithology?
- Regardless (in fighter pilot talk—“Irregardless”), will we just keep scraping droppings?
Socrates reminds: “The unexamined life is not worth living”. The answers and actions are yours.
