Welcome to the Third Degree: Tough, Brief, Weekly Interrogations on matters public and private that force thinking and response. This Sunday, we target: Atonement

  • Is secular or contemporary atonement, making serious amends, a way to try and make things right and/or work off the guilt of previous iniquitous actions or thought?
  • Is sacred or classic atonement, trying to get right with your God for the same reasons?
  • Given human imperfections, even with atonement does the same old story of conflict prevail throughout history?
  • With Yom Kippur today, the Jewish most sacred day of atonement, who should atone for failing to support Israel’s right to war for its right to exist?
  • Has existential war been forced on Israel over half the time since independence in 1947?
  • Do cease fire pronouncements make Bibi and Israel deserve atonement right now?
  • Does the old lyrical story lay out a fight for love and glory or a case of do or die or both?
  • From a domestic political standpoint, love him or hate him, have continual haranguing, persecution and prosecution of President Trump by Democrats, biased media, and, sadly, government, including tinhorn DAs, resulted in years of torment for him and the nation?
  • Where is the atonement for false dossiers, corrupted FISA courts, non-stop fake (and leaked) headlines and stories, years of investigations, impeachments and unequal lawfare?
  • Is there any wonder why he is irate over such expensive and debilitating antics when years of suspicious Biden family profiteering abetted by statute of limitations expiration plus laptop cover up realities and suppressed stories just prior to election of 2020 with no questions asked except by Fox news and the New York Post and Sun who are then attacked even after proven right time after time? Same old story?
  • Is there atonement, much less punishment, for such egregious actions?
  • If blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is an unforgivable sin, how about issuing yet another politically motivated and damage designed indictment 30 days before the upcoming election?
  • Do we await the 51 intelligence experts to weigh in this time claiming Putin, Xi, Iran and Fat Boy want Trump to win because they tremble at the thought of Kamala?
  • Since there is no political atonement for governmental incompetence, failure to live up to preamble principles and accountability, is it just the same old story?
  • Who trembles at the thought of Kamala? Who trembles at the thought of Trump? What’s the story? Sameo, sameo?

Socrates reminds: “The unexamined life is not worth living”. The answers and actions are yours.

Addendum

As a Jewish guy once said (paraphrasing) “Let him without error, cast the first stone” and that would not be me but must throw a stone at my mirror at least for confusing events.
